Nu-cu-ler!
October 6th, 2008 by Greg FawcettThe Keating 5 had been the elephant in the room, no more. A 13-minute documentary on McCain’s involvement in the scandal will be released on Monday at noon, in the Obama campaign’s most aggressive offensive move to date. This effort is notable because it has been undertaken not by a 527, but defying conventional wisdom, directly by the campaign. The release will be compared to the Swift Boat campaign.
At different points in the campaign, Barack’s supporters have pushed him to be more forceful. The decision to go on the attack shows that BHO has learned from his hometown hardwood hero, and Plouffe from Rove. If people were looking for “fire in the belly”, here it is.
K5 is probably not the campaign’s trump card, because played this early; more ammunition will likely be necessary. The Times Ayers story and the K5 “film” are the opening salvos in what is sure to be a part of a 30-day escalation of recriminations. As Carville said back in the day: “It’s Warrrr!”
John Weaver, McCain’s former chief campaign strategist once said he had “high hopes” for substantive debate for this campaign, I can’t imagine he’s feeling the same way now.

I watch less than five minutes before getting bored. It’s too over the top with the music, jump cuts, etc. to move any but the most committed Obama supporters. This one won’t change any minds. Bringing up the S&L scandal and the Keating Five is ancient history to most voters, even those like me who can remember it!
